Macy's and Jcpenny Haul

:) Hey guys, I'm back in SD for President's weekend, and my parents are cute as ever. Now that I'm in college, I realize how important family is, and I miss my parents so much when I'm off at the dorms ^_^ hehe. Anyhoo, my mommy wanted to take me shopping, being that there are sales this weekend and she wanted to get me some new clothes. The first store we went to was Macy's. My mom is like...the most devoted Macy's shopper. haha its super cute! She gets all excited and looks through all the sales racks. I ended up getting two items. First, this awesome fuzzy vest!

It's from Madonna's line, Material Girl. I've been really trying to find a nice fuzzy jacket, one of those vintage ones, but they are way too expensive :[. Even the fuzzy vests are overpriced, around $100 bucks each! The guess one I had been eyeing was $150. :*( so sad. Anyhoo, that's why I was super excited when I saw this vest on the sales rack. Guess how much it was? Only $14! eeeh what a steal :D

Then, my mom found this blazer for me. I LOVE BLAZERS! Especially well tailored and well designed ones. This one is from calvin klein and I just love everything about it- the color, the cut, and even the tag is adorable. This was around $30 dollars (on sale), but with my mom's coupons and her discount, we got it for only $17! yippee. :)

After Macy's, we stopped by at Jcpenny. They are having a CRAZY sale, with prices as low as $1! Amazing, huh? My mom found me a nice pair of jeans from MNG(mango brand). It was originally $49, but we got it on sale for $12. They are a bit too long for me, but with wedges, they will be perfect. They make my legs look really slim :P which of course, is a huge plus.

Then I got these dearfoam slippers, for only $2! I love these things, feels like walking on clouds.

Lastly, I got something super silly :P It's a cat critter headband. Haha, such an impulse buy, but I love it! Especially the rediculous fuzz balls on each side. And I got this for only $1! steal!

Forever21 Love and Beauty Makeup Haul

Hey guys,

its been so long since I've blogged on here, and I promise I am going to try to post more often, whenever I have the time! When I was last back home in SD, my mom took me to go shopping, and of course I had to browse Forever21. To be honest, forever21 fashion and clothing has really gone down in both quality and style, so I never really get anything from there anymore, BUT I saw that they had a huge sale bin of makeup items and I jumped on that immediate.

(-___-) I'm actually kind of embarassed to admit this, but I got on my knees and literally went through the whole bin. The things I do for makeup(*sigh). Anyhoo, I actually found some really cute stuff, and most of it was on sale :P so lets get onto the stuff i got.

overview of all the products I bought :)

First off, I will show you the lipsticks I bought. I got one in "red" and another in the color "burgundy". The true colors are actually quite different from the names, which you will see in the swatches. These lipsticks were only $0.99! :O what a steal! They are the same price as E.L.F. essential lipsticks, and being that I love trying out dollar makeup, I had to give these a try. I love the packaging, very shu uemura-esque. Also, really helpful when you are buying them, because all of them were in plastic wrap, so you can't open them to inspect color. The pigmentation of these lipsticks are amazing, I only need a little bit to get an amazing color payoff. The product has a nice texture to it, and isn't at all gritty or grainy. The only flaw to these is the smell. Now, I can tolerate their scent, but I know alot of beauty lovers who are very sensitive to scent. These smell like......lysol orange surface cleaner. :/ It's not a horrid smell, but its a very stronnng smell. Other than that, absolutely a great purchase for only $0.99!

Next, is my favorite purchase out of the bunch, the lip and cheek palette. This was only $1.25! The reason I got this was because the two middle colors(the cheek colors) really caught my eye. They reminded me of the wet n' wild cream stick blush in wild berry and pink flash for some reason. Although I own both of those cream sticks, the cheek colors in this palette were really beautiful, perfect for summer! Now, of course when I got home I swatched those two colors first, and I was happily surprised by the strong pigmentation, great color payoff! Blended out, these cheek colors left a light tint. They did not apply streaky and were easy to blend. The only thing I dislike about them is the fact that they smell like play makeup that lil girls use. The cheap crayon smell. Ugh, I don't even know how to describe it, but its exactly what you'd expect cheap makeup to smell like. Now, for the lip colors, I really feel quite neutral about them. They were exactly what I expected, good color payoff, but didn't have the best texture. These lip colors will be nice for a red/coral lip look. There is a red lip color, and then a orange glittery gloss. okay, onto swatches now!

Last thing I got were these polka dot fake nails :) really cute, only $1.50. I use to bite my nails alot growing up as a kid, so I have stubby nails, so I really like how fake nails look on me.

My DIY CD Makeup Palettes

For the longest time I had wanted to invest in some mac palettes, until one day I stumbled upon a youtube video explaining how to make homemade palettes out of CD cases. Dupe of the Day #1

Hey girlies,
So We all know that inside, we all lust for high end products, but sadly, our wallets cry no. But, many drugstore companies have come out with products that can be great dupes for those more expensive higher end products. Today, I dove into my mascara bin and found two almost identical mascaras, with two very different price ranges. The Dupe of the Day is......Almay intense i-color mascara in Emerald Green which is a close dupe of: Korres provitamin B5 & rice bran lash-strengthening mascara in Grey Green. The Almay intense i-color mascara in Emerald Green usually sells for $7 for .22 fl oz (6.5 g) in a drugstore; the Korres provitamin B5 & rice bran lash-strengthening mascara in Grey Green usually retails for $18 for 0.36 fl oz at Sephora or on its website. Personally, I got my Almay intense i-color mascara for $1.80 during a sale at Rite Aid, and I got my Korres mascara for $9 on Sephora.com's sale section. Alright, enough with the talking, lets first go straight to the pictures:

Even though the almay mascara is a lighter green color, they look identical on the lashes.

Review Of the Day: Nars Hungry Heart Highlighting Blush Duo

The NARS Hungry Heart Highlighting Blush Duo($38 for 0.35 oz) is a illuminating duo that is perfect for highlighting those pretty little cheekbones of yours. This duo includes a beige colored illuminator(on the left), and a baby pink colored illuminator(on the right). Both these illuminators have gold shimmers embedded in them.

As you can see, these two illuminators are quite sheer in color, but are jam packed with those gorgeous gold glitters.

packaging:
This product is packaged in the notorious Nars rubber textured compacts. Although I absolutely love how Nars compacts look, I must admit that the rubber texture is like a magnet for dirt and grime, making it very easy for the compact to start looking very disgusting. The rubber texture also makes it very hard to clean.

Nars is best known for their pigmented blushes and rauchy names, but they have also made a name for themselves as being some of the biggest glitter whores I have ever met. This product is definitely not for the faint of heart. If you are not a fan of glitter, I would definitely get a restraining order on this product. If this product is not applied with a light hand, you will end up looking like the glitter monster vomitted all over your face. Having said that, I must say that I definitely have a soft spot for this product. After doing my fair share of research(watching youtube vids, reading reviews, and searching the web for pictures/swatches), I was certain that this product would just be plain glitter all over the face. But to tell you the truth, when I finally went to the stores and had a chance to swatch it, I fell in love. Although this product definitely has more glitter than most products, it also has a special little something, that leaves behind a nice illumination when applied. For those adventurous enough, this is definitely a fun product to try.

For $38 dollars, it's like getting two different illuminators for $19 dollars each. Compared to the normal price of $26 dollars for a Nars blush, it's like a savings of $14. Now, is $38 dollars for a product expensive? Hellz ya, being that most people don't cross the $20 dollar line when it comes to cosmetics. So, overall price is definitely kind of steep.

Overall:
This is definitely not a staple in my makeup collection, and although I do love this product, I do not recommend this to makeup beginners, being that this isn't in any way a holy grail product for me. This is definitely a fun product to try, not so much a must have item.

I have always been intriqued by makeup, even when I was young. I remember when I was five and I got into my moms makeup drawer, putting on every product I could get my chubby fingers on. It definitely wasn't the best look for me. haha my mom was also NOT happy about the fact that I decided to wipe off all the makeup using her white towels. Let's just say from then on, her makeup drawer was off limits to me. But ever since then, I developed a fascination for makeup. :) Anyhoo, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jessica and I am of asian descent, 3/4 chinese and 1/4 mongolian. I named this blog Isnt{Shi}Lovely, as a play on my last name, which is Shi. I chose this name because I feel that every girl is beautiful and that makeup is just the celebration of our beauty. As Francois Nars said best, beauty is all about character and that unique quality each of us have. I hope to have this blog filled with fun entries that are both useful to newbies to makeup and intriquing for veterans of the makeup world.
