Review Of the Day: Nars Hungry Heart Highlighting Blush Duo

The NARS Hungry Heart Highlighting Blush Duo($38 for 0.35 oz) is a illuminating duo that is perfect for highlighting those pretty little cheekbones of yours. This duo includes a beige colored illuminator(on the left), and a baby pink colored illuminator(on the right). Both these illuminators have gold shimmers embedded in them.
First, the close up:

Swatches:

As you can see, these two illuminators are quite sheer in color, but are jam packed with those gorgeous gold glitters.

packaging:
This product is packaged in the notorious Nars rubber textured compacts. Although I absolutely love how Nars compacts look, I must admit that the rubber texture is like a magnet for dirt and grime, making it very easy for the compact to start looking very disgusting. The rubber texture also makes it very hard to clean.

product:
Nars is best known for their pigmented blushes and rauchy names, but they have also made a name for themselves as being some of the biggest glitter whores I have ever met. This product is definitely not for the faint of heart. If you are not a fan of glitter, I would definitely get a restraining order on this product. If this product is not applied with a light hand, you will end up looking like the glitter monster vomitted all over your face. Having said that, I must say that I definitely have a soft spot for this product. After doing my fair share of research(watching youtube vids, reading reviews, and searching the web for pictures/swatches), I was certain that this product would just be plain glitter all over the face. But to tell you the truth, when I finally went to the stores and had a chance to swatch it, I fell in love. Although this product definitely has more glitter than most products, it also has a special little something, that leaves behind a nice illumination when applied. For those adventurous enough, this is definitely a fun product to try.

price:
For $38 dollars, it's like getting two different illuminators for $19 dollars each. Compared to the normal price of $26 dollars for a Nars blush, it's like a savings of $14. Now, is $38 dollars for a product expensive? Hellz ya, being that most people don't cross the $20 dollar line when it comes to cosmetics. So, overall price is definitely kind of steep.

Overall:This is definitely not a staple in my makeup collection, and although I do love this product, I do not recommend this to makeup beginners, being that this isn't in any way a holy grail product for me. This is definitely a fun product to try, not so much a must have item.

Skip, Try, or Buy?try.

  1. hmmm this IS pretty in the pan and all that, but I'm just not a fan of glitter on my face. If I ever do wear glitter, I prefer to use it as part of my eye makeup, never the face. Part of that is because I have oily skin, and that added with glitter will look like one big mess within the hour. It DOES look pretty though. oh well!

  2. hey girlie,
ya this product is DEFINITELY not a good product for those with oily skin, but being that I picked this product up cheap (hehe I am a bargainista), and I can always use them as eyeshadows, I do like them. But dang it I wish nars wasnt so expensive! its not like money grows on trees for every makeup lover. I still love the good old drugstore and elf the best :) good quality and good prices. Cant beat that.

  4. :) i luv getting cheap high end makeup, it makes the experience even better because you know you got a good deal. I RARELY ever buy makeup retail, unless its like my birthday, and I have a giftcard or something. :D even drugstore makeup, I find buy one get one free sales, or discount coupons. I think the joy of shopping is finding that perfect bargain!

also, I'm guna do a post on how to find cheap high end makeup soon, so Im thinking you might like that!
